On 9th December, the "Drawing of China - To Spread Chinese Culture through comics of Chinoiserie - Online Group Exchange Program”sponsored by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education and organized by Jilin Animation Institute drew to a successful close.

The Executive Deputy Director of International Cooperation and Development Center of Jilin Animation Institute Ms. Bao Yiping, the program leader Liu Zhuang, the course teachers of the program Mr. Chang Song, Ms. Li Rongjian and Ms. Xue Yuanyuan, as well as nearly 300 students on-line from 9 countries and regions, including China Hong Kong, Vietnam, Myanmar, Russia, Belarus, Malaysia, Indonesia, Egypt and South Korea, gathered in the “cloud” to share the learning achievement of the Chinese Bride program “Drawing of China -To Spread Chinese Culture through comics of Chinoiserie”.

At the closing ceremony, the teachers and students watched the video showing the results of the activity and reviewed the wonderful moments of the winter camp together. Through the 5-day live broadcast course of Chinese language and the recorded course of Chinese style cartoon, the students practiced writing Chinese characters, reciting ancient Chinese poetry and conveying their thoughts and feelings in Chinese. They also painted cute pandas and colorful traditional Chinese costumes. The Chinese Bride program “Drawing of China -To Spread Chinese Culture through comics of Chinoiserie” lit the enthusiasm of students from all over the world for Chinese learning, enhancing the interest in Chinese cartoon art and perceiving the extensive and profound Chinese history and culture.

Horizontal and vertical skimming shows the beauty of Chinese characters; simple lines and dots drawing contains the history for thousands of years. Bao Yiping, executive deputy director of the Cooperation and Development Center of JAI, said in the interview that the "Chinese Bridge" online group exchange program is a brand project built by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education. Jilin Animation Institute undertook the exchange program for the first time in 2022, providing Chinese language lovers from all over the world with the opportunity to learn Chinese through online teaching , to understand Chinese history and culture and Chinese comic art, and to play a positive role in spreading Chinese language and culture and promoting exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations. Jilin Animation Institute is willing to build the bridge of Chinese language again in the future and make contributions to the exchanges and friendship between civilizations around the world.

Li Rongjian, a teacher from the School of International Exchange of Jilin Animation Institute, spoke at the closing ceremony as the teacher representative of the project. Through the learning attitude of treating questions and completing the homework seriously on time, she felt the passion of students for Chinese language and culture, which made her feel very gratified. She is willing to be a communicator of Chinese culture and continue to study with Chinese culture lovers from all over the world. She is looking forward to meeting with the students again in Jilin Animation Institute.

After the completion of the "Chinese Bridge" course, a total of 10 students were selected as outstanding students according to their participation in the project and completion of homework. Among them, three excellent students meticulously recorded videos, in which they actively spoke in Chinese and talked about their learning feelings and harvest.

Yin Qingyue, an outstanding student from Myanmar, said, "Through the careful teaching of the teachers, I have learned about the broad and profound Chinese culture, the symbols of Chinese culture and the cultural connotations behind them, as well as many different styles of Chinese comics, which has aroused my passion for animation, comics and painting."

"Learning Chinese is not only a hobby, but also a dream I have always wanted to realize. The winter camp of Jilin Animation Institute is my first step on this road," said Mei Qingxin, an outstanding student from Vietnam. "This activity is a perfect combination of my favorite Chinese language and comic art."

Cun Shouduan, an outstanding student from Myanmar, said, "In the short 5 days, we learned a lot of knowledge that can not be learned from books. We learned about the Chinese zodiac, tea culture, Chinese historical clothing and so many things about Chinese traditional culture and the beauty of Chinese comics. I appreciate every teacher’s hard work."

At the end of the closing ceremony, the students enjoyed the theme song Come Together of the original 3D animation film Frog Kingdom - Extreme Sports, which is sung by Zhang Siyuan, an alumnus of Jilin Animation Institute. With Jilin Animation Institute as the window, the "Drawing of China - To Spread Chinese Culture through comics of Chinoiserie - Online Group Exchange Program” is rich in content and diversified in forms. It integrates Chinese language learning with Chinese style comics and opens a new horizon for international students to understand Chinese language, culture and cartoon. It is also a wonderful creative comics art exchange between China and foreign countries.
