From November 13 to 15, the "Vibrant Animation, Quality Future" —— Second China (Jilin) Animation and Comic Convention was held in Changchun, Jilin Province. The event was guided by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the Publicity Department of the Jilin Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, and the Jilin Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and was organized by the China Television Artists Association. It was jointly hosted by Jilin Animation Institute, the Animation Art Committee of the China Television Artists Association, the Jilin Association of Radio, Film, and Television Artists, Jilin JAI TianBo Film and TV Production Co., LTD, and Jilin JAI Vixo Pictures Co., LTD.

Opening Ceremony

      On the morning of November 14, the opening ceremony of the Second China (Jilin) Animation and Comic Convention  was held at the Cultural and Art Center of Jilin Animation Institute in Changchun, Jilin Province. Attendees included Guo Yunde, former member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Chairman of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles; Jin Yuhui, member of the Party Leadership Group of the Jilin Provincial People's Government; Yan Shaofei, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group of the China Television Artists Association; Gao Changbo, Secretary-General of the Jilin Provincial People's Government; Fan Zongchai and Wang Liping, Vice Chairmen of the China Television Artists Association; Wu Yuedong, Deputy Minister of the Publicity Department of the Jilin Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China; Zhao Ming, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Chairman of the Jilin Federation of Literary and Art Circles; Dong Tao, member of the Party Leadership Group and Secretary-General of the China Television Artists Association; Zheng Liguo, Chairman and President of Jilin Animation Institute, as well as over 1,000 representatives from relevant departments, including the Jilin Provincial Department of Education and the Department of Culture and Tourism, experts and scholars, audio-visual artists, original work representatives, university faculty and students, and media representatives.

2024 High-Quality Development Seminar for Animation

      On the morning of November 14, the 2024 High-Quality Development Seminar for Animation, themed "The Symphony of Inheritance and Innovation — Sparking a New Wave in the Animation Market," was held at the Cultural and Art Center of Jilin Animation Institute. The seminar consisted of two main segments: keynote speeches and a roundtable discussion. Vice President of Beijing Film Academy Sun Lijun, Producer Peng Tian from the Europa Studio of Tencent Video Animation Content Production Department, Director of Beijing Radio and Television Animation Channel and Chairman of Beijing Kaku Media Company Zhang Bin, Executive President of Jilin Animation Institute Liu Zhenhua, and Deputy Director of the Digital Publishing Research Institute of China National Academy of Press and Publication Li Guangyu, respectively delivered keynote speeches titled "A Discussion on Chinese Animation Art and Education Since the New Century," "Content Development in Film and Game Synergy — The King's Glory: The Glory Chapter Animated Series," "A New Expression of Animation History in Media — Creation Sharing of ," "Aiming for the Grand and Delicate — AI Empowering Higher Art Education and Jilin Animation Institute's Practices," and "Status and Trends of China's Animation Industry." These speeches provided profound intellectual inspiration to the attendees. The roundtable discussion, moderated by Sun Lijun, featured Professor Wang Bin from the School of Journalism and Communication at Central University for Nationalities, Vice President of iQIYI Yang Xiaoxuan, General Manager of Hangzhou Younuo Animation Co., Ltd. Zhang Lei, Director of the Film and Television Channel of Jilin Radio and Television Station Sang Zhimin, and Dean of the School of Animation and Digital Art at Shanxi Communication University Sui Jinyun. They discussed the theme "A Dialogue Between Technology and Art — Co-creating a New Quality Future for Animation," exploring the achievements and experiences of animation art in the context of new media and technologies, and discussing the new quality future of the animation industry.

Artists Enter Campus

      On the morning of November 14th, an event titled "Seeing the Significant in the Minute: New Trends in Film and Television Art Creation" was held, bringing artists into the campus. Actors Wang Liyun, Zhao Jiaqi, Zhou Xianxin, and Zhang Junning, along with director and producer Xiao Haiping, and screenwriter Li Haijiang, engaged in a face-to-face exchange with over 140 faculty and students from the Directing, Acting, and Screenwriting departments of Jilin Animation Institute. They analyzed their insights into the current film and television creation environment and shared the valuable experience they accumulated over the years. In response to the questions and challenges posed by the students, they encouraged them to observe more, think deeply, be brave in trying new things, and strive for improvement.

Excellent Animation Works Screening

      In the afternoon of November 14th, an excellent animation works screening was held at Jilin Animation Institute. The screening featured three outstanding animated works: Folded Tang Poetry, Hope, and Soul Land 2: The Peerless Tang Clan. The main creators of these animations, including Wu Jianren, the head of the Program Department at Jiangsu Radio and Television Network Product Department, Liu Chang, a teacher at the Animation Art College of Jilin Animation Institute, and He Peinan, the anime producer at Tencent Video, shared their creative insights. During the subsequent round-table discussion, the three creators, drawing from their front-line creative practices, delved into the advantages of animation in inheriting, disseminating, and presenting excellent traditional Chinese culture, and discussed how to translate these advantages into concrete creative practices.

Academic Seminar

      On the afternoon of November 14th, the academic seminar "The Convergence of Industry and Profession: The Diverse Coexistence of AIGC and Visual Arts" was held. Industry professionals such as Zhang Qing, chairman of Suzhou Milly Digital Technology Co., Ltd., Yan Kai, visual effects supervisor of Shanghai Light Chasing Pictures Co., Ltd., He Zhenhui, technical director of Jilin Tianbo Film and Television Production Co., Ltd., Hu Yunqian, production manager of Light Chaser Animation, and Li Wanlong, chief inspector of Jilin Animation Institute, discussed the trends in the animation industry in the new era and the challenges faced in animation talent cultivation in China. They also provided their insights on the integration and innovation of art and technology in animation creation.

Dynamic Animation Night Gala

      On the evening of November 14th, the Dynamic Animation Night Gala, themed Vibrant Animation, New Quality Future, was grandly held in Changchun, Jilin. The gala was hosted by Ju Ping from China Media Group, Liu Dongdong from China Agricultural Film and Television Center, Gao Yuan from Jilin Radio and Television Station, and Duan Xuru, a teacher of broadcasting and hosting arts at Jilin Animation Institute.

      Cultural and artistic workers including Wang Liyun, Zhao Jiaqi, Hou Jingjian, Zhou Xianxin, Zhang Junning, Gan Lu, Cui Peng, Gao Yijia, Xiao Haiping, Li Haijiang, Jin Guisheng, and Wang Tiezhu, along with many animation professionals, jointly promoted outstanding TV animation series, original comic works, and animation-themed papers from the second China (Jilin) Animation Conference.

      The entire gala utilized advanced high-tech presentation methods, including 3D naked-eye screens, stage lasers, ice screens, and LED main screens, to create a stunning visual experience.The ingenious integration of AIGC technology with anime art is showcased through a diverse array of programs, including symphonic performances, light and shadow technology shows, song performances, and anime character shows. This fusion of traditional culture with modern art and technology embodies the vision of beauty and harmony, highlighting the century-long journey of Chinese anime and expressing boundless optimism for its future.

Innovation and Investment Promotion Conference

      On November 15th, the Innovation and Investment Promotion Conference themed Focusing on Innovation and Fusion for Common Development was successfully held at the Art Center of Jilin Animation Institute. At the conference, the Publicity Department of the Jilin Provincial Committee released the "Several Measures for the High-Quality Development of the Animation Industry in Jilin Province" for the first time to the public, providing a detailed interpretation of the 18 high-value, multi-dimensional, and comprehensive policy measures. Ten enterprises and project teams from various regions and sectors presented their projects; ten enterprises signed letters of intent to enter two industrial parks in Jilin Province; eight enterprises from outside Jilin Province signed venture capital cooperation agreements with eight local enterprises; and two enterprises signed incubation cooperation agreements. This conference focused on entrepreneurship education, project incubation, and investment in the animation industry. Through a series of activities including policy announcements, project presentations, and cooperation signings, it provided a highly specialized and targeted platform for animation enterprises, creators, investors, and related institutions, actively promoting the continuous, healthy, and rapid development of China's animation industry.
