After the 14-day cross-cultural cooperation, the 2020 IAC closing ceremony hosted by IAC organizing committee and organized by Jilin Animation Institute (JAI) was officially concluded online at 13:00 on September 17, 2020 (Beijing time). As one of the highlights of the 20th anniversary of JAI, 2020 IAC has attracted wide attention and received high praise among international animation colleges and universities.

The organizing committee divided 44 participants from JAI, Leeds Arts University, Nanyang polytechnic, The Ontario College of Art & Design and Thailand Rangsit University into several groups, 4-5 people in each group. They discussed topics in groups, create themes, conceive stories, design characters, draw storyboard, make animations and edit clips. After 14 days of intensive communication and joint creation by each group, 9 chain animation works with different themes and styles were created.

The competition focuses on a creative theme with elements of "The Sky is Round, The Earth is Square" and the judging criteria focus on IAC's work in story creativity, graphic design, animation technology, animation acting, animation language, and innovation. “Toad”, a chain animation work created by students from JAI of China as the team leader and composed by students from the UK, Thailand, Singapore and the Philippines for group A project team, was awarded the grand prize of 2020 IAC jointly issued by JAI and IAC Organizing Committee. This work has distinct artistic style and solid foundation of animation. It takes the Chinese style toad seeking wealth as the theme, symbolizing the story of the pursuit and fusion between the Yin&Yang villain and the toad.

"Our institute has 9 students in 9 groups, each from a different country. Although it's just a 20-second animation, in the process of creation, it not only tests the students' story creativity, rapid design and language communication ability, but also tempers the cooperation spirit, communication ability and organization ability of the international student team." Tian Jianmin, a professor of the Animation Art School of JAI said, IAC is a rare opportunity for students majoring in animation to practice and show themselves.

Hu Xiaosa, a student of the 2017 2D Animation of the Animation Art School, participated in the competition as the leader of Group A and won the first prize. She told us that through the competition, she knew her teammates from different countries, learned from each other in animation production and cared for each other in life. She hoped that she could have the opportunity to meet them in the future. As the whole process is English communication, it is a good opportunity for her to practice oral English. During the competition, she saw the shining points of others and benefited a lot from the creativity and ideas of her teammates.

Since its founding 20 years ago, JAI has always had an international vision, attracting talents, releasing value and promoting international integration. Vice President of JAI and Dean of  School of Animation Art,Luo Jianglin said at the closing ceremony, IAC 2020 through international exchanges between teachers and students of the specialty, not only promotes the development of international employment and study abroad students, deepen the friendship between students, teachers, also let us each other have a deeper understanding of their own culture. Although IAC has come to an end, it is not the end, but the beginning of our friendship. I hope leaders, teachers and students of participating schools can come to JAI in Changchun, China to communicate and create with us face to face, and jointly promote the development of the original animation industry.

Through this competition, the animation major construction of JAI will be promoted to the international first-class rank, and it will be in line with the world's universities and cultural and creative industries, thus expanding the international influence and popularity of the university. At the same time, it also further deepens the school-running characteristics of "Openness International Orentation" of JAI, improves the school-running strength, academic status and social reputation of JAI, and strives forward to the goal of building a world-renowned first-class university.
