Recently, the awards ceremony of the 8th Asian-Pacific Movie Festival was held in Brisbane, Australia. More than 260 movies from China, Australia, Japan, South Korea, India, Turkey, Iran and other regions of the world have competed for the awards. Wen Yan, a Chinese director and producer, was in the evaluation committee for “Children/Animation/Documentary”. During a press interview, she remarked that this year was the most competitive year. Although the 3D movie from China, “Frog Kingdom”, did not final win the award of “Best Animated Feature, it has been paid serious attention by the committee.

Started in 2007, the Asian-Pacific Movie Festival has been nicknamed as the “Oscar” in Asian-Pacific Region. Focusing on Asian movie made it important and influential in a very short time. Every year, a Chinese director will be selected to the evaluation committee. This year is Wen Yan, the editor of “La Rivistadel Cinematografo” and also an independent movie producer. He is famous as one of the top eight promising movie directors in the world. 

During a press interview, Wen Yan remarked that among all the animation features nominated for “Best Animated Features” Award, “Frog Kingdom” was the only one from China.    

Traditionally, Japan animation has always been in a dominant position in Asia. But things have changed with Asia-Pacific Movie Festival. It paid a lot of attention to discover animations from different countries and different cultures.

Before “Frog Kingdom” two animated works were nominated. This has greatly promoted the development of Chinese movie industry. Although “Frog Kingdom” failed to win the award, it showed the world how extraordinary improvement Chinese animated movie industry has achieved.

Comparing to the other two nominated movies before, “Frog Kingdom” was firmly based on Chinese traditional culture. Meanwhile, it paid more attention to the cooperation and communication of experts from different countries of the world. Directed by Nilsson Shen, the worldly renowned animation director, with the efforts of a world-class producing team and the faculty of Jilin Animation Institute, “Frog Kingdom” is truly a “Hollywood” level 3D animation.

In addition, on the eve of the 8th Asian-Pacific Movie Festival, Fifth Dimension Animation & Games Technology (Jilin) Co. LTD has reached a cooperative agreement with the “Screaming Workshop” in Australia. The two companies will work together to produce high-quality animated movie in future. This is a clear sign that shows Chinese animation has obtained a good international reputation.

It is told, “Frog Kingdom II: Ice Cave Adventure” is almost completed. It should be available in the cinema at the beginning of 2015.
