On November 20th, the themed forum "Boundless Symbiosis: The Innovation of Animation Creation Paradigms and Intercultural Communication" was successfully held at Jilin Animation Institute. Centering on the core creative philosophy of "Art + Technology," the forum built an intercultural "symbiosis" bridge through universal audio-visual language and emotional storytelling.
Pencho Kunchev, President of the Bulgarian Chapter of the International Animated Film Association (ASIFA), and Weng Ming, a renowned Chinese animation director, were invited to attend. Du Chuanyong, Executive Vice Dean of the School of Animation Art at Jilin Animation Institute, presided over the forum.

With the theme "Animators' Persistence Amidst Technological Iteration," Weng Ming reviewed the evolutionary journey of animation—from the warmth of hand-drawn art and the shock of 3D animation to the unknowns of intelligent technology. He believes that the animation industry will witness a division between "those who harness AI" and "those who are enslaved by AI" in the future. He pointed out that talent stems from continuous observation and independent thinking, emphasizing that creators must safeguard the freshness and purity of their creations.
Pencho Kunchev: Boundless Art The International Expression of Chinese Animation
Speech by Pencho Kunchev
Combining his personal professional experience, Pencho Kunchev elaborated on the philosophy that "animation and art are inherently boundless." He highly affirmed the qualitative leap achieved by Chinese animation over the past 8 to 10 years, and particularly praised the animated short films expressing fine traditional Chinese culture among the entries of this year's "Snow Wolf Cup" Animation & Comics Competition, noting that they possess a unique "Chinese flavor" and demonstrate remarkable artistic control.
During the interactive session, Weng Ming stated that hand-drawn sketches carry the creator's life warmth and emotional pulse, warning against excessive pursuit of technical efficiency at the expense of losing the "original essence of artistic soul." From the perspective of an international juror, Pencho Kunchev pointed out that the three core elements—"worldview, characters, and story"are the keys to animation's global cuccess.
