The School of International Exchange traces its origin to the English Teaching Office (2000-2007) and later the Foreign Language Teaching Department (2008-2016), and was formally established in March 2016. It consists of the General Administration Office, International Student Affairs Office, College Foreign Language Teaching Office, Professional English Teaching Office, and IELTS Course Group. The School undertakes the teaching of College English, College Japanese, Professional English, IELTS, and Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages across the university. It is also responsible for foreign language proficiency training for faculty and students taking international examinations, administration and cultivation of international students, and coordination of major international events and other global affairs.

Guided by the University's internationalization strategy, the School adheres to the development philosophy of serving the University's schooling goals, supporting talent cultivation of all schools and departments, and facilitating students' personalized development. It follows a development framework of "one core focus" — improving students' practical English application ability, and "two adherence principles" — advancing the "College Foreign Language Plus" teaching reform and integrating international resources to support university development.

The School has formed its distinctive "one main body, two supporting wings" development model: taking the curriculum system of "College Foreign Language + Specialized Foreign Language + Comprehensive Extended Foreign Language" as the main body; and building innovative foreign language practice activities together with a teaching team proficient in both language and professional knowledge as the two supporting wings. It has constructed an application-oriented, feature-highlighted, interdisciplinary and multi-level "College Foreign Language Plus" curriculum system, precisely supporting the University's training of internationalized talents.

Aligned closely with the University's overall development strategy, the School commits to the internationalized design of foreign language courses, the global development of faculty teams, and the overseas growth of students, boosting the sound, rapid, connotative and distinctive development of the University.
