Recently, the original urban-cultivation-themed AI comic-drama The Strongest Full-Level Nascent Soul Descends on the City from Another World, created by teachers and students of Jilin Animation Institute, officially launched on the Hongguo Short Drama platform. Within 72 hours of going live, its heat index on Douyin surpassed 7 million, reaching No. 39 on the Douyin short drama chart, while its heat on Hongguo exceeded 18 million, quickly propelling it to the forefront of the platform's comic-drama rankings.
Built on the original comic IP cultivated by the university's comic industry-education integrated practical teaching platform, this work leverages the school's industry-education integrated, practice-oriented talent cultivation model. Through AI technology, teachers and students completed the full-chain commercial incubation from static comics to dynamic comic-dramas — marking another landmark achievement in the university's efforts to build an ecosystem for incubating Chinese national comic IPs.
"The Strongest Full-Level Nascent Soul Descends on the City from Another World" is adapted from the original comic IP "The Strongest Across Worlds" (Yijie Zuiqiang), independently incubated by the school's comic industry-education integrated practical teaching platform. "The Strongest Across Worlds" launched in 2024 on platforms including Tencent Comics, Bilibili Comics and Kuaikan, and in the same year reached No. 4 on Tencent Comics' new-work chart, with over 200 million clicks across the entire network.
At present, China's micro-short-drama users have surpassed 800 million, and the market size exceeded 100 billion yuan in 2025. In the first eight months of this year, 430,000 micro-short-dramas were launched — 13 times the total for the entire previous year — among which AI comic-dramas represent the fastest-growing incremental track. The core audience favors fantasy-overdog ("face-slapping") stories and fragmented, high-density "feel-good" content. With its contrasting "urban + cultivation" premise and the strong reversal narrative of "a full-level powerhouse crushing opponents and staging an overdog comeback," this work precisely matches the preferences of this audience; combined with the market dividend of major platforms ramping up their investment in AI comic-dramas, the work achieved a resonance between creative direction and market demand.
To adapt to the dissemination rhythm and audience preferences of the short-drama track, the team launched the AI comic-drama adaptation of the IP, exploring a lightweight path for bringing comic IPs to screen. Using the original comic's art design and storyboard drafts as the core asset library, the team deeply integrated human-machine collaboration powered by AI throughout the entire IP transformation process.
The final comic-drama preserves the visual style and strong narrative strengths of the original comic, while leveraging AI technology to deliver immersive dynamic effects in immortal-art light and shadow and scene transitions. Tailored to the habits of short-drama viewers, it intensifies plot reversals and the density of satisfying moments, providing a replicable practical model for the fast, streamlined transformation of domestic comic IPs into comic-dramas.
