Seminar on Film Industry Development “Building Dreams with Light and Shadow · Revitalizing Cinematic Arts” Opens at Jilin Animation Institute

On August 27, as a key supporting event of the 21st Changchun China Film Festival, the thematic seminar on film industry development titled “Building Dreams with Light and Shadow · Revitalizing Cinematic Arts” kicked off at Jilin Animation Institute. Guided by the China Xia Yan Film Society, Jilin Provincial Association of Intellectuals Without Party Affiliation and Jilin Film Association, the seminar was co-hosted by the Executive Committee of the 21st Changchun China Film Festival, Jilin Animation Institute, Changchun Film Group Corporation Limited and Jilin Jidong Yushuo Film & Television Media Co., Ltd. It was jointly undertaken by the Film School of Jilin Animation Institute, the Institute of Industrial Aesthetics for Film, Games and Animation, the Film Research Institute, the Research Institute of Microfilms, Micro-dramas and Micro-videos of Jilin Animation Institute, together with Changchun Changying Former Site Museum Cultural Communication Co., Ltd.

Gao Sheng, Deputy Director of the Publicity Department of Jilin Provincial Party Committee; Zhao Yongbo, Member of the Standing Committee of Changchun Municipal Party Committee and Director of the Publicity Department; Cao Tianmin, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Chairman of Jilin Federation of Literary and Art Circles; Jing Fengming, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Chairman of Jilin Writers Association; Liu Wei, Deputy General Manager of Changchun Film Group; Wang Fu’an, Vice Chairman of Jilin Film Association and Reviewer of Jilin Film Censorship Committee, and other major leaders and guests from Jilin Province and Changchun City attended the opening ceremony.

Yue Wu, Party Secretary and Supervisor of Jilin Animation Institute; Liu Xin, Vice Chairman; Liu Zhenhua, Executive President, together with representatives from film and television colleges, academic associations in the province and journalists from news media participated in the seminar. Gao Sheng, Jiang Ping, Liu Wei and Liu Xin delivered speeches on stage. The opening ceremony was hosted by Zhao Baole, Class-A Screenwriter and Executive Vice Chairman & Secretary-General of the TV Opera Committee of China Television Artists Association.

Rooted in Changchun’s profound cultural heritage as “the cradle of New Chinese Cinema”, the seminar focuses on the innovative development of the film and television industry in the new era. It brings together domestic film experts, artists, university teachers and students to conduct in-depth discussions on industrial opportunities, artistic practice and youth talent training. The participating guests built consensus through idea exchanges, deepening their understanding of upholding fundamental principles while pursuing innovation in film culture, and expressing high expectations for the new generation of practitioners. Moving forward, Jilin Animation Institute will further promote the coordinated development of integration of teaching, research and production, help China’s film industry achieve breakthroughs through inheritance and long-term progress through innovation, and march toward a new stage of higher-quality and more sustainable development.
