On April 19, the Technology Forum of the 16th Beijing International Film Festival and the Launch Ceremony of the 'Light and Shadow Future' Film Technology Unit were held in Beijing. The forum was hosted by the Organizing Committee of the Beijing International Film Festival and the Film, Television and Drama Research Center of Peking University, and co-hosted by Jilin Animation Institute. Centered around the theme 'Breaking Boundaries, Rebirth: AIGC Reshaping the Future of Film Industry,' the forum brought together renowned film and television experts, AI technology specialists, industry leaders, and academic authorities from both China and abroad. Closely aligned with national strategies such as 'Cultural Powerhouse,' 'Science and Technology Powerhouse,' and 'Artificial Intelligence+,' the forum explored the transformation and innovative development paths of the film industry in the AI era.
During the forum, the unveiling ceremony of the Jilin Animation Institute’s Film, Game, Animation, and Comics Industry Aesthetics Research Institute was held, marking the official establishment of a high-end research platform in China focused on the interdisciplinary field of film, game, animation, comics, and industrial aesthetics.

In his speech, Bi Jiang reviewed the outstanding achievements of Beijing-produced films over the past year. Works such as Good Stuff, Ne Zha: The Demon Child Reborn in the Sea, The Lychee of Chang’an, and The Volunteers: The Battle of Life and Death achieved both critical acclaim and box office success, fully demonstrating Beijing’s innovative vitality as a fertile ground for film and television creation. He stated, 'We firmly believe that only through the deep integration of technology, art, and humanities can the film industry achieve steady and long-term progress and reach new heights.' Looking ahead to the 15th Five-Year Plan period, he emphasized that he will continue to intensify efforts in film creation, strengthen the industrial foundation, and fully promote the high-quality development of the capital’s film industry.

Liu Zhenhua stated on-site that the Film, Game, Animation, and Comics Industry Aesthetics Research Institute should deeply explore the essence of China’s outstanding traditional culture and tell Chinese stories well; focus on cultivating interdisciplinary talents with artistic literacy, industrial thinking, and innovative capabilities; and delve deeply into the field of film, game, animation, and comics industry aesthetics to help Chinese cinema reach the world.
