The 3rd Northeast China Book Fair was held at Changchun Agricultural Expo Park from May 14 to 18. Cao Lubao, Member of the Standing Committee of the Jilin Provincial Party Committee and Director of the Publicity Department, visited the exhibition booth of Jilin Animation Institute for inspection and guidance. He spoke highly of the institute’s achievements in animation, comics and games, film and television creation, as well as integrated digital cultural tourism. He urged the institute to leverage its distinctive schooling features and professional strengths, pool resources from all sectors, expand communication channels, advance overall brand building and promotion, and further enhance its brand influence.
Co-hosted by Jilin Publishers Association, Jilin Books and Periodicals Distribution Association and Jilin Cultural Industry Promotion Association, the fair adopted the theme Read Northeast, Savour the Fragrance of Books, Embrace the Future. It drew over 300 publishing and cultural institutions across the country. As a key cultural institution in Jilin Province, Jilin Animation Institute was invited to attend. Centering on its schooling feature of integrated teaching, research and production as well as achievements in industry-education integration, the institute set up exhibition sections including original film and television IP, new works of the Mountain and Sea Universe, digital interactive entertainment platforms and cultural and creative derivatives.

Film and Television Sector: Classic IPs Shine alongside Brand-new Original Works
The institute’s film and television business is supported by a complete industrial chain, covering the whole creation process of animation, comics, games, design, film and television. At the fair, classic IPs and related derivatives were showcased in full display, including the original animated film franchise Frog Kingdom and animated series Changbai Spirits: SQUARE Animal City.
The institute also unveiled three brand-new productions of the Mountain and Sea Universe for the first time: Land of Birds, The Legend of King Yu and The Pure and the Turbid. Rooted in the mythological system of Classic of Mountains and Seas, these works reinterpret the essence of traditional myths from innovative perspectives. The campus fantasy short drama We Became Leading Ladies Through Misfortune, which has gained huge popularity on Hongguo Short Drama Platform, was also on display, demonstrating the institute’s strong capacity in short drama creation.
Interactive Entertainment Sector: Changbai Awakening Leads a New Digital Cultural Tourism Experience
In the interactive entertainment section, the institute put the simulation management e-commerce game Awakening of Changbai in the spotlight. Set against the backdrop of Changbai Mountain, the game pioneers an innovative business model combining games, e-commerce and cultural tourism. Players can convert in-game earnings into genuine local agricultural products of Changbai Mountain via virtual planting, processing, operation and trading, blazing a new trail for the digital upgrading of cultural tourism and rural revitalization.

Combining static displays and interactive activities, the exhibition presented the institute’s innovation in the integration of art and technology with great visual appeal and fun. Going forward, the institute will further refine its integrated model of teaching, research and production. It will focus on incubating original IPs of the Mountain and Sea Universe, pursuing innovations in integrated digital cultural tourism, and developing the full industrial chain of short dramas and animations. Rooted in the thriving cultural and creative industry of Jilin Province, the institute will create more high-quality works with distinctive local features, artistic value and market potential, contributing to the development of a culturally strong nation.
