The Annecy International Animation Film Festival and its Marché International du Film d’Animation (MIFA), dubbed the “Oscars of Animation”, recently kicked off in France. Led by Zheng Liguo, Chairman and President of Jilin Animation Institute (JAI), a delegation travelled to the event to showcase its original IP portfolio and engage in high-level global industry exchanges. Centered on four core priorities — international talent recruitment, industry-education integration, cross-media creation and transnational strategic partnerships — the institute secured a string of tangible cooperation outcomes, blazing broader international avenues for Chinese animation and game content.

At its booth, JAI exhibited self-developed IPs includingZAP'S LAST STAND, The Frog Kingdom, and a series ofMountains and Seasanimation works. Polished production and distinctive creative concepts drew sustained interest from overseas producers, art schools, industry experts and trade visitors. Through in-depth one-on-one negotiations, the institute forged solid ties with over ten entities such as the International Animated Film Association, foreign art universities and renowned production studios. Discussions covered overseas copyright distribution, cross-border co-production, overseas internships for faculty and students, and joint industrial projects, yielding multiple memorandums of understanding to underpin global IP operation and cross-border industrial collaboration.

An Ning, Dean of JAI’s Game School, delivered a keynote speech titled Crossing Boundaries, Integrating Futures: How Game Logic Reshapes Animation Creation and Higher Education. Drawing on JAI’s long-term experience in cross-disciplinary animation-game integration and industry-academia synergy, she shared ideas on transmedia innovation and distinctive training models for cultural creative talents, elaborating how game mechanics revolutionise animation storytelling, audiovisual language, interactive experience, character design and commercial operation.
