The 9th College GAME JAM CHALLENGE Successfully Concludes at Jilin Animation Institute

       On December 21, the 9th College GAME JAM CHALLENGE successfully concluded at Jilin Animation Institute. The competition drew enthusiastic participation from faculty and students representing 26 prestigious universities both domestically and internationally. These included international institutions such as Saint Petersburg State University of Film and Television (Russia) and Chungkang College of Cultural Industries (South Korea).

       Participating Chinese universities included: Peking University, Renmin University of China, Tongji University, Jilin University, Dalian University of Technology, Beijing Jiaotong University, Fuzhou University, Communication University of China, Zhejiang Normal University, Beijing Language and Culture University, Huaqiao University, Jilin Normal University, Jingdezhen Ceramic University, Lanzhou City University, Jilin Business and Technology University, Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, Shanghai Theatre Academy, Jilin University of the Arts, Beihai Art and Design Institute, Hebei Academy of Fine Arts, Jilin Animation Institute, Shanghai Crafts and Arts Vocational College, Fuzhou Software Technology Vocational College, and Fuzhou Yinghua Vocational College.

       Centering on the theme "The Future," contestants engaged in 48 hours of continuous creation. The challenge culminated in the awarding of one Gold Award, two Silver Awards, three Bronze Awards, three Excellence Awards, and four Individual Awards. The gold, silver, and bronze winning teams also presented their projects during a live roadshow session.

       The award ceremony was attended by several distinguished guests, including Zhou Wen, Technical Supervisor of China Digital Culture Group and the Technology Innovation Center of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism; Lin Binhua, Mentor at the Tsinghua University Art and Science Innovation Base and Director of the Digital Entertainment Lab; and Peng Wei, Vice President of Jilin Animation Institute (JAI).

       Representing the School of Game Development at JAI were Ge Yingying, Executive Vice Dean; Li Wenhui, Vice Dean; and Chen Jian, Assistant to the Dean. Other faculty attendees included Zhuang Kaili and Feng Zhaodan from Beihai Art and Design Institute, as well as Feng Yajie and Jiao Yingying from Hebei Academy of Fine Arts. The ceremony was presided over by An Ning, Dean of the School of Game Development at Jilin Animation Institute.

       The evaluation process was conducted through a combination of online and offline sessions. The expert jury assessed the 23 final submissions based on four key dimensions: Gameplay (Fun), Completeness, Marketability, and Innovation. According to the judges, the theme "The Future" provided contestants with vast creative space. They noted a significant improvement in both content completeness and entertainment value compared to previous editions of the competition.

       Throughout the 48-hour sprint, contestants leveraged their diverse strengths—constructing logic through code, sketching worlds with art, rendering atmospheres via music, and conveying warmth through narrative. They were not merely technical practitioners, but also storytellers of emotion and designers of experience. Their efforts fully demonstrated the professional quality, collaborative spirit, and boundless potential of the next generation of game developers.
