On June 30th, the series of activities titled “Supporting the High-Quality Development of Jilin's Cultural Industry - Artists Entering Campus,” co-hosted by Jilin Animation Institute and the China Xia Yan Film Society, were successfully held. During the event, the “China Xia Yan Film Society Jilin Animation Institute Film and Television Creation Base” was established, and artists such as Zhao Huayong were appointed as guest professors. Additionally, Jilin Animation Institute's Chairman, Zheng Liguo, was invited to serve as the Chairman of the Animation Film Jury for the Singapore Lion City International Film Festival and announced the “Proposal for Micro Film, Micro Drama, and Micro Video Workers (Changchun)”. Moreover, a seminar and roundtable discussion were organized under the theme “Learning and Passion – Our Era's Spirit.” The artists, with a deep sense of “original intention,” entered the campus, where they drew new artistic inspiration from the students' perspectives while generously sharing their valuable experiences.

  The China Federation of Literary and Art Circles Film and Television Center served as the supporting unit for this event, with co-organization by the Jilin Province Higher Education Innovation and Entrepreneurship (Cultural and Creative) Alliance. The event was attended by Zhao Huayong, Member of the Standing Committee of the 11th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Vice Chairman of the 8th China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and former Director of China Central Television; Wu Yuedong, Deputy Director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee; Zhou Gang, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Chairman of the Jilin Federation of Literary and Art Circles; Jiang Ping, National First-Class Director and President of the China Xia Yan Film Society; Zheng Liguo, Chairman of Jilin Animation Institute, Executive Vice Chairman of the China Television Artists Association Animation Art Committee, and Executive Vice Chairman of the China Television Artists Association Micro Drama Professional Committee; Liu Xin, Vice Chairman of Jilin Animation Institute; Liu Zhenhua, Executive Principal of Jilin Animation Institute; Zheng Zi, National Television Artist of both Virtue and Art, Executive Vice Dean of the Asian Micro Film Academy, and Deputy Director of the Short Film and Short Video Art Committee of the China Film Editors Society; Zhao Zhi, Editor-in-Chief of Writer's Network and Vice President of the World Chinese Microfiction Research Association; Sheng Zengbo, Director of the Mao Zedong Poetry and Life Museum; Jiang Xiaoyu, Executive Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Singapore Lion City International Film Festival; and Wang Bin, Chairman of the Digital Media Industry Alliance of Zhongguancun.

 Speeches were delivered by Wu Yuedong, Zhou Gang, Jiang Ping, Zheng Liguo, Zheng Zi, and Liu Zhenhua. The event was hosted by renowned performing artists Zang Jinsheng and Tong Fan, along with Yu Mohan, a faculty member of the School of Film at Jilin Animation Institute. The event was also attended by notable actors Wang Yijun, Zhu Yanping, and Wen Yujun; famous host Shen Zhuyin; well-known directors Kan Weiping and Han Yi; esteemed screenwriters Xu Haiyan and Dai Wenjiang; and renowned producer Wen Lianyan, as well as representatives from member units of the Jilin Province Higher Education Innovation and Entrepreneurship (Cultural and Creative) Alliance.

 

Leadership Speeches

 

  Wu Yuedong stated in his speech: "We must thoroughly study and implement Xi Jinping's cultural ideology, vigorously develop cultural undertakings and the cultural industry, integrate cultural construction into major strategies, strengthen cultural empowerment, and promote high-quality economic and social development. Jilin Animation Institute is one of the earliest higher education institutions in China engaged in teaching the animation industry and cultivating animation talents. It has a relatively mature teaching system and development model and has been successively recognized as a National Animation Teaching and Research Base and a Cultural Industry Demonstration Base."

 Wu Yuedong emphasized that this event is a pragmatic initiative to deeply study and implement Xi Jinping's cultural ideology. Through the academic exchanges of the distinguished guests, the event aims to enhance the perception of cultural power among teachers and students, thereby fostering a strong sense of cohesion and identity. This will better enable the institution to undertake the significant mission of inheriting and developing culture within higher education. The event seeks to promote the creation and production of high-quality works in animation, film and television, micro-dramas, and micro-videos, to promote the spirit of the times, cultivate cultural and artistic talents, and contribute to the high-quality development of Jilin Province's cultural industry and undertakings. The Jilin Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government attach great importance to the development of cultural undertakings and the cultural industry, recognizing the responsibility to promote their prosperity and development.   Zhou Gang stated that Jilin's culture is highly unique and diverse, providing an inexhaustible source of material for various types of artistic creation. Jilin is the cradle of New China's film industry and a pioneer in New China's radio and television, having almost entirely witnessed and documented the history of China's broadcasting and television development. The region boasts a rich heritage in film, television, and audiovisual history, along with abundant professional resources.

 Jilin Animation Institute is a brilliant gem in the crown of Jilin's culture. Its integrated "learning, research, and production" talent cultivation model strongly promotes the development of film and television education and industry. The original four-part animated film series "The Frog Kingdom" has been released worldwide, and multiple film and television works have won awards both domestically and internationally. Jilin Animation Institute is not just a higher education institution nor merely a cultural industry entity; it represents a cultural inheritance and a beacon of hope for the film and television industry.

 Through this series of activities, the school has invited numerous outstanding film and television artists, which will surely broaden the students' horizons, enrich their knowledge, cultivate their minds, and increase their energy. This will provide guidance and direction for their future artistic paths, career paths, and life journeys.

  Jiang Ping, in his speech, stated that 2024 marks the 10th anniversary of General Secretary Xi Jinping's speech at the Symposium on Literary and Art Work. This visit to Jilin Animation Institute is a concrete measure and manifestation of the principle that literary and art workers should "take root among the people and take root in life." Literature and art exist to serve the people, and only by deeply engaging with the people and rooting in their lives can outstanding literary and artistic works be created.

 

  Zheng Liguo expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the guests, artists, and experts for their presence and support. He stated that Jilin Animation Institute has always adhered to the characteristic of "open internationalization" in its educational approach, hosting and organizing various international forums and competitions in fields such as film and television, animation, gaming, advertising, and design. Many distinguished domestic and international experts and scholars have been invited to Jilin Animation Institute. Through these series of forum activities, the international vision of both teachers and students has been broadened, and the depth and breadth of the school's international education have been expanded, providing clear direction for the school's future development.

 Zheng Liguo emphasized that the "Supporting the High-Quality Development of Jilin's Cultural Industry – Film and Television Art Education and Industry Cooperation Project Signing" and the "Artists Entering Campus" series of activities will play a positive role in promoting the school's integration of industry and education, content creation, the fusion of technology and art, innovation and entrepreneurship, and international cooperation. As the Chairman of the Animation Film Jury for the Singapore Lion City International Film Festival, he aims to spread Chinese culture globally through the creation of excellent animated films and short films. The signing with Writer's Network will target national cultural and market demands, promoting the effective market transformation of works by teachers and students. The partnership with the Mao Zedong Poetry and Life Museum will disseminate China's red culture through animation and film. The signing with the Zhongguancun Digital Media and Industry Alliance will greatly enhance the school's innovation and entrepreneurship efforts, helping students to reach both national and global stages. The establishment of the China Xia Yan Film Society Jilin Animation Institute Filming Base will promote the creation and filming of mainstream movies by teachers and students. Additionally, the establishment of the Micro Film, Micro Drama, and Micro Video Research Institute will significantly enhance the school's production of high-quality outcomes in film and television art creation and the quality of talent cultivation.

 Zheng Liguo stated that in the future, the school will adhere to the concept of "creating new ideas and opening up new horizons" to strengthen and expand the "National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Academy" at the Shuangyang campus. The school will focus on traditional culture, modern consumption, and future technologies, integrating campus life with mountain and sea culture, and blending art with technology, as well as education with industry, to construct a new system that fully integrates "education, culture, art, technology, and market consumption."

  Zheng Zi stated that the reason for Jilin Animation Institute's current achievements lies in its broad vision and an upward, aesthetic pursuit. He shared three points with the teachers and students at Jilin Animation Institute. Firstly, “Think More and Reflect on the Artistic Life”: It is important to engage in independent thinking and develop one's own thought system. This system of thought involves having unique insights into a subject, a work, or a landscape, and interpreting them through one's independent ideas. And then “Cultivate More Hobbies to Enrich Your Life”: Everyone can have various hobbies, whether it's in the arts, technology, education, or creation. The development of hobbies is related to one's worldview, life view, and values. Good hobbies create a positive environment for growth, and hobbies can be nurtured. Lastly “Travel More to Broaden Your Horizons”: The saying "Read ten thousand books and travel ten thousand miles" is wisdom passed down from our predecessors. Whether walking around campus or traveling during holidays, exploring the beautiful landscapes of our country, and leaving footprints in the fields and villages are all wonderful choices. Art ultimately tells the story of people, and people's stories are best understood by interacting with others.

  Liu Zhenhua on behalf of all the faculty, staff, and students, extended a sincere welcome and heartfelt thanks to the leaders, guests, and artists for their presence! He stated that artists are treasures who use art to interpret the changes of the times, capture the beauty of life through the lens, and convey the power of truth, goodness, and beauty through their works. The artists will provide strong professional support for the cultivation of film and television talent and the creation of film and television art at our school. Their presence also injects new vitality into our school's aesthetic education efforts, guiding students to establish correct aesthetic principles, educating and cultivating people through beauty, and harmonizing beauty with mutual enrichment.

Establishment of the Film and Television Creation Base 

Appointment of Guest Professors

  Jiang Ping read the "Approval for the Establishment of the China Xia Yan Film Society Jilin Animation Institute Film and Television Creation Base" and presented the plaque for the "Jilin Animation Institute Film and Television Creation Base," which was accepted by Liu Zhenhua on stage.

 The establishment of the Film and Television Creation Base provides an important platform for teachers and students to transform theory into practice. It allows them to experience the entire process of film and television creation firsthand, accumulate valuable experience, and lay a solid foundation for their future artistic careers. By appointing virtuous and talented artists as guest professors, the teachers and students of Jilin Animation Institute can absorb the creative wisdom and artistic essence of the finest film and television artists, broaden their artistic horizons, enhance their professional skills, and inspire and enrich their minds.

  Liu Xin announced the "Decision on Appointing Zhao Huayong and Other Artists as Guest Professors at Jilin Animation Institute," and Zheng Liguo awarded the appointment certificates to the guest professors. Zhu Yanping and Zhao Zhi delivered speeches on behalf of the guest professors.

  Jiang Ping, Chairman of the Jury for the Singapore Lion City International Film Festival, and Jiang Xiaoyu, Executive Chairman of the Organizing Committee, presented the appointment certificate for Chairman of the Animation Film Jury to Zheng Liguo, Chairman of Jilin Animation Institute. This international collaboration marks an important practice in the animation industry and cultural exchange, further deepening mutual understanding and integration between Chinese and foreign cultures while promoting the development of China's animation industry.

Reading of the Proposal

  Renowned performing artists Zang Jinsheng and Wen Yujun read the "Proposal for Micro Film, Micro Drama, and Micro Video Workers (Changchun)." The proposal calls on workers to unite their strength, cultivate integrity, and establish a strong moral foundation, striving to innovate in the art of micro films, micro dramas, and micro videos amidst the tide of the times. It encourages them to bravely reach new heights in art under the guidance of the Party.

Film and Television Creation Seminar

  Centered around the theme "Learning and Passion—The Spirit of Our Times," attending artists and scholars engaged in discussions from two different perspectives in film creation: directing and writing. They shared insights through keynote reports and roundtable dialogues. 

 Jiang Ping, a National First-Class Director and President of the China Xia Yan Film Society, emphasized that having a sense of justice, a deep connection with the people, a strong sense of responsibility, and the power of words are essential for creating outstanding works. Guided by Xi Jinping's cultural ideology, he stressed the importance of immersing oneself among the people and humbly learning from them. By doing so, artists can create works that are profound in thought, exquisite in art, and excellent in production—works that are worthy of our times, our people, and the mission of Jilin Animation Institute, which serves both the people and the era.

 The artists shared valuable insights, encouraging students to continually expand their creativity. They advised students to "go into life and immerse themselves among the people," as it is only by doing so that they can transform the common aspects of everyday life into unique expressions rarely seen on stage.

 

Poetry Recitation

  At the event, renowned artists Wen Yujun and Tong Fan collaborated with Jilin Animation Institute students Li Liangyi, Zhang Chenwei, Liu Wenyan, and Yan Guofang to recite the poems "The Fantastical Journey of Animation" and "The Realm of Animation." The artists' deeply emotional performances conveyed the idea that "in a world where light and shadow intertwine, animation unfolds a vibrant and colorful tapestry." Their recitations transported the attendees and students on a fantastical journey.

  This series of "Artists Entering Campus" activities further strengthened the connection between the school and the artists, promoting a close integration of art education and film and television practice. In the future, Jilin Animation Institute will seize this opportunity to continue focusing on the development of students' professional skills and practical abilities in film and television. Through campus-based industry projects such as feature films, microfilms, micro-dramas, television programs, and series, the school aims to comprehensively enhance students' practical creative abilities, industry participation skills, and market awareness. This initiative will provide a steady stream of key talents for the film and television industry and cultivate more high-quality, innovative professionals for the cultural industry in Jilin.
